The Butterfly Wish

When shadows softly gather,

And the night sky's hushed and still,

Comes a butterfly on silken wing,

Upon my windowsill.

I cup her gently in my hands,

Her wings of moonlit lace,

And breathe my wish into the dark,

A secret, soft as grace.

Then fairy light begins to glow,

A shimmer, silver blue,

She folds herself in a crystal tear

To keep my wish for you.

So wear her close against your heart,

Her magic sealed inside,

Until the day your wish comes true,

And she is free to fly.
